Professional Advancement Opportunities
Linfield offers high quality degree programs, absolutely, but the college also has opportunities for community members to enrich their lives through professional advancement programs. Of interest to many are the wine programs, but the college also has offerings as wide ranging as Healthcare Interpreter Training to sessions on effective uses of social media. Programs are available on a continuing basis so check back often!
Linfield University's history with wine began in 1986 when we hosted the first International Pinot Noir Celebration. We have recently and rapidly expanded our connections to the Oregon wine industry and have a mission to provide a unique, interdisciplinary approach to Wine Studies, integrating wine education programs into academic and experiential learning for our undergraduate students and adult learners. Our programs are not just in the classroom, for credit. We've created programs to serve the wine industry and our community. There's something for every type of wine enthusiast.
Art, Music, Theatre, Lectures and Literary Events
The university is a cultural hub for McMinnville, with ongoing art shows, an array of musical and theatre performances, and many different speakers and presentations covering all subjects. Nearly all events are free and open to the public, but check the specific event you are interested in to know for sure whether or not there is a charge.
Events Open to the General Public
Archives & Special Collections
Linfield University hosts the Oregon Wine History Archive to preserve and share the story of Oregon wine. The college also has institutional archives that span the history of the institution. Both archives are open to the public by appointment.
Linfield athletics have been a source of local pride for decades! From the national champions in football, softball and baseball to the All-American performers in track and field, the local sports scene thrives. Follow the Wildcats in person at any sporting event, most of which offer free attendance. We especially love the opportunity to show the local kids how to play with class and distinction on the fields and courts. If you can't attend in person, follow the live stats that are posted for many of our competitions. And, if you are REALLY serious about supporting the Wildcats, join our Topcat Club!
